Description:
Applications are invited for a fully funded PhD position at the Laboratory for Imaging Technologies, Department of Electrical Engineering (ULFE), University of Ljubljana (LIT-ULFE), Ljubljana, Slovenia.
LIT-ULFE is a worldwide recognized Lab in the areas of medical image analysis and computer vision for industrial applications. PhD students will receive excellent supervision from the LIT senior and junior researchers, obtain state-of-the-art knowledge and reputation in the scientific community which all will be key to numerous doors in industry and academia after they complete their PhD studies. Our past PhD students are both in Slovenia, which is a very pleasant country to work and live in, and abroad. For instance, two Russian students from Kazan, who completed their PhD in LIT, are currently post-docs at Stanford. Besides, in LIT we highly support entrepreneurship as the members of LIT have co-founded several companies, the biggest being Sensum, which currently has 70 employees (www.sensum.eu).
The position is available immediately after the candidate passes the application requirements. The financial support is available for 4 years. The PhD student will be employed by the University of Ljubljana, will have the same employee status as Slovenian citizens, will have subsidized housing, and will, additional to salary, receive funds for travel expenses to international conferences.
Prospective applicants should have:
• Strong academic record with an M.Sc. degree in physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or electrical/biomedical engineering, preferably with expertise in one or more of the following areas: medical image analysis, machine learning, computer vision, pattern recognition, and/or optimization;
• A good mathematical background;
• Good programming skills in languages such as C, C++, MATLAB or Python.
